Amy Luckenbill is the Founder & Principal Advisor of HR Helix, a fractional HR consultancy designed for leaders who want structure without bureaucracy, clarity without rigidity, and partnership without hand-holding. Known for her balanced, steady leadership style, Amy blends executive-level HR expertise with a pragmatic, business-first approach that helps organizations strengthen culture, improve performance, and solve their most complex people challenges.
With nearly two decades of experience across industries—including hospitality, manufacturing, skilled trades, professional services, legal and medical practices, call centers, and nonprofit leadership—Amy brings the rare ability to recognize patterns quickly and translate them into actionable strategy. She believes HR should never be "HR for the sake of HR," but rather the structural backbone that supports healthy growth. Her signature approach combines strategy, structure, and support, giving leaders the clarity they need to make better decisions and the confidence to lead with intention.
Amy will serve as the 2026 President of the Human Resource Association of the Midlands (HRAMHuman Resource Association of the Midlands - A professional HR organization in the Omaha metro area), reflecting her commitment to elevating the HR profession and strengthening the community of practice in the region. She is also the co-host of HR Wine Bar, a podcast created to bring humor, real talk, and community to HR professionals navigating the everyday realities of the field.
HR Helix was born from a simple observation: growing businesses deserve HR support that matches their ambition.
After two decades in progressive HR leadership roles, I kept seeing the same pattern: companies with 20, 50, or 100 employees hitting the same HR roadblocks. Not because they didn't care about their people, but because HR had become so complex, so risky, and so time-consuming that leaders were drowning in compliance instead of focusing on growth.
The traditional options didn't work:
So I built HR Helix to be different.
We're not a PEOProfessional Employer Organization - A company that handles HR, payroll, and benefits by co-employing your workforce trying to take over your business. We're not a call center reading from scripts. We're a boutique consultancy built on three principles: structure, strategy, and support.
Good HR isn't about feelings—it's about systems that work
Thinking three moves ahead, not just band-aids
A partner who speaks your language
And flexibility because every business is different—and what you need today might not be what you need in six months. Our four service levels let you start small and scale up as your needs evolve.
Fun fact: I'm also a recovering choral conductor with a doctorate in music. (I promise that's not relevant to HR, but it does mean I understand complex systems, leadership under pressure, and the importance of getting everyone working in harmony.)
The double helix structure of DNA represents interconnected elements that work together to create something greater than themselves. That's how we think about HR.
HR isn't everything, but everything is HR.
Your recruiting strategy affects your culture. Your culture affects retention. Your retention affects customer service. Your customer service affects revenue. Your revenue affects growth. Your growth creates new HR challenges.
Most HR consultants focus on one problem at a time. We look at the whole system—and help you build infrastructure that supports sustainable growth.
